If you are like me, you are a mom who has neglected her hair because well…you just don’t have time. Isn’t that our excuse for everything? After all we have little ones we chase around all day and getting ready in the morning consists of a 2 minute shower while your toddler is banging on the glass yelling, “Momma!” I’ve decided to stop the madness to the dry hair, the split ends, and the breaking strands. I want to have the shiny Kardashian hair. Just kidding…but seriously… I want healthy hair!!!

So, I’ve found some food that will change our hair forever. Join me in to trying these top 10 superfoods that promote healthy hair and let me know if they work for you!

1. Eggs

Your hair is protein! If you go to the salon on a routine basis and expose your hair to harsh chemicals then you most likely will end up with hair that breaks and that is dull. Eat some eggs to strengthen your hair and to help your hair grow strong.

2. Whole Grains

I don’t like carbs…said no one ever! So, next time you go to the store add some whole wheat bread or pasta to your basket. Your hair needs biotin along with iron, zinc and B vitamins in order for your hair to grow. This is one way to eat carbs without feeling guilty. Yes, your welcome. 🙂

Grab some Vitamin E when eating avocados. This is like the superhero of all super foods for your hair. Avocados also help balance the oils and PH levels of your hair. Eat some in the morning or add it to your salad. Heck you can add it to a smoothie to add some creaminess. Yum!

Nuts have tons of omega-3 fatty acids which help thicken the hair. Your body does not produce these healthy fats on its own so we need to include them in our diet. There are some nuts that are better for your hair than others such as: almond, cashews, walnuts and pistachios.

Need to add some shine to your hair? Try adding salmon to your diet. It’s one of the best sources of omega-3 fatty acids which helps protect your skin from sun exposure as well as keep it moisturized. Salmon also strengthens and encourages hair growth with its protein, fish oil, and selenium.
